Project Portal is a tool for helping those in need of design and planning project assistance. The LAEP Department annually partners with many such projects, and is anxious to efficiently and consistently respond to each request.
Note: Only a select number of residential design projects are chosen each year for a fundraising program--the Community Design Teams--by our Student Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects. The faculty and students of the Department of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning do not provide free or discounted residential designs to private individuals as class projects. However, if you would like to submit a residential landscape project to our student job board, please also use the form below. Be advised that the department is not responsible for work performed by individual students, including design quality or completion.
The Project Portal Submission Form offers a user-driven entry point to seek assistance. Completing this form’s information will transmit your request to a department reviewer who can determine how best for LAEP to respond. Response time is typically less than 3 weeks.
As required by USU regulations and Utah regulations governing the profession of Landscape Architecture, the final products provided to community clients will NOT
- construction details or specification (including erosion control measures)
- design of structural elements (e.g., retaining walls)
- irrigation or lighting design
- design installation or construction oversight
- maintenance or maintenance procedures
All projects are academic exercises intended to assist clients in preliminary studies of land planning and design problems. Those wishing to proceed toward implementation of a project are advised to contact a licensed Landscape Architect through the Utah Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (http://aslautah.org).
