Since 1939, the Utah State University department of Landscape Architecture & Environmental Planning has established a rich tradition of service throughout the Intermountain West. Our reputation has grown because of a professional education program, our innovative departmental and faculty research, and service to our students and clients.
We focus on the practical and theoretical dimensions of sustainable natural and cultural systems, social and behavioral concerns in landscape architecture and environmental planning, aesthetic sensitivities and engineering implementation. Students and faculty are engaged in the creative exploration, identification, analysis, and appropriate resolution of design planning and management issues. Current and future challenges in the field include the earth’s diminishing resources, expanding growth, diversification of population, increasing globalization, and changing technologies.
