Public Forum | April 11, 2019 | 7 p.m. | Fine Arts Visual, room 210

Come listen to Jim as he discusses his travels and techniques for sketching on-location. He has visited and drawn great urban places in 45 countries. His watercolor sketches of Cuban sites related to the writer Ernest Hemingway’s life and work was the subject of his solo exhibition at the Nobel Prize-winning author’s home (now a national museum) near Havana during the 2015 Havana Arts Biennial. Join us for a night of stories and inspiration.

Sketching Workshop | April 12, 2019 | 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. | Fine Arts Visual, room 210

The first session of this workshop will be focused on design-concept sketching. The second session will be devoted to on-location sketching techniques. Participants are expected to draw with Jim throughout his tutorial. Paper will be provided, but no other media supplies. Please see the list of materials below indicating what each individual should bring. 

There will be a lunch break between sessions. However, lunch will not be provided by the Landscape Architecture & Environmental Planning Department or the university. Please plan to purchase lunch on campus, or bring a lunch with you. 

Sketch Walk | April 13, 2019 | 10 a.m. | Old Main Hill

Tour Logan, Utah and practice on-location sketching techniques with Jim Richards. Please bring a waterbottle, weather appropriate clothing and a backpack on the walk. Needed sketching materials are outlined below. All workshop participants are invited and encouraged to attend this Saturday morning event.
