After graduating from BYU in 2017 with a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Amelia went to work for York Engineering, a structural engineering firm specializing in engineering wood-framed residential homes. Getting to that point was difficult, but throughout her college career she often drew strength and inspiration from beautiful outdoor spaces. This sparked an interest in landscape design near the end of her time at BYU; she wanted to help create beautiful outdoor spaces for others to enjoy. During her last semester she took two landscape design classes and met a professor who strongly encouraged her to follow the path to an MLA. After working as an engineer, she knew her desire to create outdoor spaces in which others find encouragement, inspiration, and refuge was worth pursuing. Having little background in plants and landscape architecture, she excitedly looks forward to learning all she can about making the world a more beautiful place by applying her technical knowledge and developing her creative skills as she pursues an MLA degree at Utah State University.
