New West: Lessons from Mid-Century
About the Lecture:No evolution of a geographical region was more rapid and transformative than that of the American West at mid-twentieth century. NEW WEST explores the innovations that shaped this unique architectural landscape throughout the ages of steam, steel, oil, and information, utilizing the vibrant and compelling images of the color-saturated early social media art form of the Mid-Century Linen Post Card.
Wolfgang Wagener is an international architect and strategy advisor for real estate development. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects, the Royal Institute of British Architects, and a lifetime member of the Society of Architectural Historians, Southern California Chapter.
Leslie Erganian is a Chicago born, California bred artist and writer. Her hand-colored photographs are in the permanent collections of the Xerox Corporation and the California Museum of Photography. She contributed her design talents to the production of film and television for clients including Warner Bros., DreamWorks, MGM, PBS and Showtime, and is also a life member of the Society of Architectural Historians, Southern California Chapter.
Wolfgang and Leslie are the authors of NEW WEST, the recipient of five gold 2020 Book Design Awards including the Gold Judge’s Choice Award for best book design of the year by PubWest.
